Ask HN: Why is web development such a daunting task?

Hey there, This is kind of a random question, but I figured I might get some help here. How are you all tackling web development? I am a fairly experienced programmer, though, with very little to no experience in the web realm; the closest I have gotten to the web is writing APIs for a few things, e.g. state machines to manage packages through a shipping network, etc. I have mostly worked with C, Java, Scala, and Haskell. I have toy projects with other languages like Lisp and Go. Toy with a new language by writing a simple database? I can do that. Write a web app? I've run away many times... it all feels so daunting. Has anyone else experienced this? What is your advice? I have considered Java and Go since I have experienced with both languages.

I recently needed to check a past transfer to confirm that I was sending some crypto to the same wallet address. In the past, the last few transactions showed up on the "Pay" page. They have since renamed "Pay" to Transfers or something like that. They no longer show past transactions, so I went down a rabbit hole of searching through the app, couldn't find it, then had to google it and found a help page for Coinbase. There is a link in the article to coinbase.com/reports (I can find no way to get to it from the web app except by following the link from the help article.) Once there, you can select the date ranges you want and generate a transaction report in PDF or CSV and then you have to wait a bit while it generates the report for you to download.
