I had lunch with a lawyer friend today, who told me that their morning was surreal. At their meeting to go over the latest contract draft, the client introduced new AI software they had purchased (who is selling this???) and its list of recommended changes. Every single recommendation was worse for the client, and after explaining the reasons, the call lasted longer than it normally would have, so the bill to the client was higher. The lawyer asked if AI was really that stupid, or if their contracts were really that amazing, because then they should be charging a lot more for them.

I joined the company before the launch and architected, wrote and implemented all the critical parts of our backend. As an early employee I have a stock options plan. My problems are 1) Deno is not as well supported as Nodejs and 2) I can't figure out which {postgres or upload} modules to use. Deno does not work with managed Digital Ocean managed databases - not because of Deno but because the TLS module is strict. I want to handle file uploads in my Deno server and I can find 4 or 5 different implementations. Which should I use? There are two (at least) Postgres modules. I have found some other instances of people giving up on Deno. This is nothing about Deno, it just seems that Digital Ocean (for example) has made sure they work with Nodejs but not Deno. I use my Discord mostly for talking in tech communities and messaging people. But somehow I got my account disabled on Discord for being involved in "malicious hacking, fraud, account or credit card cracking, and/or attempting to damage a computer network or machine". I've never done anything remotely close to that on Discord. However, contacting support just gives me an initial bot response and 0 follow-up replies. For some reason Discord also starts deleting these disabled accounts 14-30 days after they're disabled, and I can't find any way to download my account data. I know people who are starting a start up or on a related area, investing in stocks/companies. Usually they are very enthusiastic and optimistic about what they're doing. I'm unfortunately a lot more risk adverse and cynical about certain ideas / "opportunities" and am willing to debate and challenge beliefs, but I realize that a lot of people just want the support and echo chamber acknowledgements. I struggle with being unauthentic and genuine and wanting to share my opinions that the other person wasn't seeking.

Is Anyone Else Having Indexing Issues with Google Search Console? 2 by nsesites | 2 comments on Hacker News. Hi all - I'm having issues getting my site (http://twkids.app) Indexed onto Google Search Console. I've submitted my Sitemaps over a month ago & also have all the same URL's as Internal Links from my homepage. However, not a single one of my Sitemap URL's has been indexed. It just says "Discovered - but not currently Indexed" & status is "Started", but no other explanation. The Google Crawler automatically indexes some pages but it's been quite slow. And the Inspect URL works, but it's very manual & there's a daily limit (I have around ~60k pages to index). Is anyone else having Indexing Issues and know how I can resolve this? Any advice would be very helpful!

Why are many of the biggest web frameworks in dynamically typed langs? 4 by jannesan | 4 comments on Hacker News. Django, Rails, Lavarel, Phoenix … Is static typing less useful in Web development? Do these dynamic languages enable better dev experience (than frameworks in statically typed langs like Spring, ASP.net)? I have no experience in building big web apps and I would like to learn one of those big frameworks that come with a lot out of the box. Kind of curious to try Phoenix because Elixir seems fun and tooling around it seems good. On the other hand, I can’t really imagine not having types, so I’m thinking maybe I should try Spring boot with Kotlin instead (type system seems really nice). Anyone has some thoughts on this? Not looking for general static/dynamic typing discussion, just want to know what makes a good web framework.

Ask HN: Is it possible to run Linux on an old Virgin Media TiVo? 4 by gmac | 1 comments on Hacker News. I changed broadband supplier and Virgin Media (UK) don’t want their TiVo box back. It’s a Samsung SMT-C7100. I was about to break it open for the HDD, but this seems like a shame, because obviously it’s a whole little computer with Ethernet, HDMI, USB and a 500GB drive. I recently needed to check a past transfer to confirm that I was sending some crypto to the same wallet address. In the past, the last few transactions showed up on the "Pay" page. They have since renamed "Pay" to Transfers or something like that. They no longer show past transactions, so I went down a rabbit hole of searching through the app, couldn't find it, then had to google it and found a help page for Coinbase. There is a link in the article to coinbase.com/reports (I can find no way to get to it from the web app except by following the link from the help article.) Once there, you can select the date ranges you want and generate a transaction report in PDF or CSV and then you have to wait a bit while it generates the report for you to download. From time to time I get emails from PayPal stating that someone sent me a small amount of money (always an odd number, between 5 and 21 Euro), and that I should register to claim this amount. It is obviously a scam, because - I don’t know the senders - It’s to an email address I no longer use and that gets spammed frequently - It’s from a PayPal affiliate in the country of the email domain (I no longer live there) What is the game here? Is it to confirm my email address is real? Will they claim the money back? Or would I become a money laundering mule when they ask me to send the money back to a different account? I just can’t come up with anything that sounds remotely profitable to me.
